In our modern culture where the goal is to have it all, do it all, and be it all, the notion of sacrifice is one that generally conjures thoughts of distaste. As such we have overlooked one of the most profound practices for cultivating a deeper relationship with ourselves, with God, and with others. The word sacrifice takes its meaning from a verb that means “to make sacred.” Through a regular practice of sacrifice we make room for the sacred to enter our lives and the world.
